The Immaculate Conception Church, Van Horne, will host a beef and pork dinner Sunday, October 16, and will be serving from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., dine-in or carryout. menu includes beef, pork, barbecued beef and pork, cheesy potatoes, green beans, corn, salads, dinner roll and desserts. Adults, $12; children 5 — 12, $6; under 5, free.

The Vinton Aquatic Club will be holding a multi-family garage sale to support the club, The sale will be held this Saturday, October 1, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at 1209 A Ave. in Vinton. Some of the items so far include: Kids air hockey table, air fryer, Roomba, kids kitchenette, kids slide, balance bike, kids bikes, indoor trampolines, outdoor play house, foot bath, rain barrel, baby clothing and diapers, sports gear, 40 gallon animal tanks. Hannen Lake Park to host Chili Cook Off October 1
The Hannen Lake Park chili cook-off will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, at White Oak Shelter, Hannen Lake Park, 1949 Benton Iowa Road, Blairstown.Chili cook-off registration will be from 11:30 a.m. to noon, with judging held at 2 p.m. Entry fee is $20 per recipe; limit one entry per person. Grand prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places and include two weeks of camping, a Hannen Lake Cedar Cabin weekend getaway and one weekend of camping.
Homecoming soup supper to benefit Belle Plaine Ambulance Sept. 30
Homecoming soup supper at First Lutheran Church, 1523 Sunset Drive, Belle Plaine, will host a homecoming soup supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30.Chicken noodle soup, chili, Wisconsin cheese soup, bars, dinner rolls and lemonade, water and coffee will be served for a freewill donation. Proceeds will go to the Belle Plaine Area Ambulance Service.
Farmers market, children’s fall festival October 8 Van Horne
On October 8th from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm, Birds of a Feather VH will be hosting a Children's Fall Festival sponsored by the Van Horne Lions Club and many of our terrific local businesses. The games and prizes will be free. There will also have a pumpkin decorating contest (entry form is pictured). PLEASE NOTE REGISTRATIONS ARE NEEDED BY OCT 1. There are a number of divisions so all kids from K-12 can bring a decorated pumpkin.
